Max Maisel, PHD
Dr. Maisel is a clinical psychologist (License 31101) with a PhD from the APA accredited program at Brigham Young University, Utah. He received his bachelors degree in intensive psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Maisel has developed his expertise in treating OCD and anxiety over the past 10 years. He has worked with diverse clients in a broad range of settings, including the OCD and Anxiety Clinic at PCH Treatment Center, several University Counseling Centers (LMU, BYU, CSUN), community mental health (BYU Comprehensive Clinic), substance dependence treatment facilities (Salt Lake City VA Hospital), Chronic Pain Management Centers (Utah Valley Pain Management), and charter schools (working with ages 10 to 17).
In addition to running his private practice, Dr. Maisel provides highly specialized OCD and Anxiety treatment to clients in several boutique residential treatment centers across Los Angeles, working as apart of their overall treatment team. He is passionate about teaching and has provided supervision to post-doctoral fellows at The Maple Counseling Center and Loyola Marymount University. He also enjoys giving training seminars and presentations on treating anxiety disorders to various organizations and programs. Dr. Maisel’s research interests have been examining mindfulness-based interventions to assist adults with autism in better managing emotional distress, and he has published several studies on this topic in peer-reviewed journals. He completed his APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and his post-doctoral fellowship at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). In his free time, he loves traveling the world with his wife, going on hikes, spending time with his daughter, binging on the latest Netflix or Hulu series, and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
